Mixed squat workouts - and the immense conditioning and flexibility benefits they entail.
I really need to add in squats as a category here!
I'll do so now - and then write this ...
- Back. Anyway, if there was ONE reason I wrote Squat 101 - it wasn't so much that NO good book - well, that comes close to mine - existed out there in terms of squats, and going deep, no pun intended, like NO-ONE has ever gone or delved into the subject before - well, it was that, but another huge reason was this, and I keep saying this - LOTS of people focus more on Hindu squats than the good ole bodyweight squat, mostly to the detriment of the latter.
And this is a huge mistake, one I've covered in my books, writings - yes, even the "free ones" - on my sites.
Look, to keep it simple, and yet again - do both.
The bodyweight squat done right works the hips and hamstrings and butt like no other movement can - the Hindu squat is more thigh and calf specific.
Dont get me wrong, both work the other parts of the body too.
But those of you with naturally weak hamstrings will notice you ain't getting much of a hammie workout at all with Hindus ... (becuase your weak hamstrings cause other muscles to overcompensate).
Similarly, a lot of you with strong hamstrings naturally will use those more when doing Hindus.
Stretching, and opening up the hamstrings, and back of the body - I cannot emphasize it highly enough.
Pull-ups as well.
You work the BACK if you want to look good on the front, and FEEL good.
If you want to be HEALTHY as a horse.
You BACK it up - there is a reason for the expression.
And with squats, some people question if "I've done 100 Hindus at a good tempo in proper form". Do I now need to do bodyweight?
Ideally hell yes.
Ideally you knock out another set of 100 bodyweight.
And keep going.
But there are more ways to skin that cat.
And MIXED squat workouts is one of them - combining both forms of squats into ONE workout.
Do a Hindu, then 5 bodyweight , do 5 Hindus, 2 jump squats - and so forth.
Key is this - you do not, I repeat NOT - pause before you reach a set number, much like you would not if you're doing only type of squat in the workout.
This not only taxes your neuro muscular system a hell of a lot more as form is different, yet similar on both movements - but also taxes your MUSCLES differently - and better.
It improves rep counts beyond any sort of belief, because you're giving a muscle group a "relaxed break" - yet you're still working it.
(A secret I mention in Pushup Central and many of my other books, notably Battletank Shoulders - do 10 pull-ups in PERFECT Form (yes, getting chin over the bar, dead hang etc) - and then 25 fingertip pushups in perfect form).
And more ...
I just put out a couple of vidoes on youtube on this, so you'll want to check those out, one of those is at the bottom of this page.
And thats that.
Have at.

30 second squats
The sky, my friend - truly is the limit as I wrote about earlier, and there is always something you CAN do - period (other than bitch, moan, whine groan, look at the sh-news - and so forth).
And in terms of squats, the KING of all exercises (dont get me wrong - the pushup is still the BIG DOG) - here is a variation that is #23 in the yet to be released book Squat 101.
This is another one of those "past customer ONLY" emails which will be sent to the general list as well, but later. For now, it's only YOU guys that get to see it! (i.e. past customers).
And it's simple, the how to on this one - yet the way it affects your body is nigh profound to say the least.
To do these, simply take 30 seconds on the way down on a squat, and 30 seconds on the way up - if you can do either.
For most people, FIVE seconds down and FIVE seconds up is all they should attempt.
And do such squats in reps, and in conjunction with your REGULAR routine, my friend.
If you're done with 100 squats, do 10 this way, and write back and tell me if your legs dont quiver like an aspen Maple leaf in Toronto in the BREEZE ... as "solid" Marc the African silverback Gorilla found out when doing dips, or getting in the position - for the first time. Hehe. Thats another book on the way on dips - nowehere near done though.
You can always move ahead, and there is ALWAYS something to do. INcluding fitness, yes, in "this time" when people are buckling down, looking to do nothing but survive, yours truly marches on with his "expensive" books - and will continue to, much to the chargin of many, price wankers being numero uno on that list, but this isn't about them - ugh, but thats a pet peeve of mine, I even expressed myself in a video on that one!
Anyway - where was I.
Ah yes, squats ...
Write back - let me know how these squats affect you!
And remember while the 0 Excuses Fitness system covers squats in depth "you aint seen nothing as yet" - like with the first book on isometrics, hugely popular - now you have the SECOND book (well, you had it a while ago!) - Advanced, Profound Isometric and Flexibility Training - and Volume Three is very much, well and truly in the works.
Did ya'll see the email on when a certain Sophia called me a pyschopath for ... ah, you will see it soon enough!
And, an email where a certain ... somebody asked if I ever sold any books. LOL.
All to come - for now - write back - let me know!
Best

Things are always better . . . after a workout!
. . . or after writing to you guys, hehe.
Those that aren’t snowflakes that is. Hehe again, or maybe those that ARE as well!
(w.r.t the snowflake thing, a bunch got ticked off at my last extra long email and are STILL getting ticked off at a) the content and b) the length of the email).
How dare I, hehe.
Anyway, I’ve done up a post about that this morning, and was going to send it to you NOW.
But . . . now is not the time.
Now is to tell you this (because YOU TOO might be going through it in many ways) is that today was a hellatious day in all regards.
What do I mean?
Well, I got through a hellatious and wonderful workout for one. That’s the good news!
And the bad? Or rather irritating, or annoying?
Tried making a few payments to my hosting providers (both of them) and they BOTH failed.
It didn’t work initially at all. Apparently some issue with Paypal. Tried with card again, no dice.
And when it finally did go through, the money got debited from my bank account but never reached the host.
Sweeeeeeeetttt . . .
This has happened to me with the bank I am using right now in the past.
And while you’d think it’s an instant re-credit back to the account, that’s not what happens in most cases.
I once withdrew a not insignificant sum from the ATM once (in local currency) - - the equivalent of USD 100 or so, and the ATM never spat out the money.
Went to the bank, and they said I’d have to go to my bank.
Went to mine and they said they’d raise the issue with the other bank.
The year was 2018. Sound familiar my friend? Hehe .
And the money was NEVER refunded after that.
I once had an issue while recharging my phone online, and the money disappeared from the account, and showed up three weeks later.
Pithy amount, of course.
About double of that disappeared today in terms of the hosting . . . And when or if it’ll show up is anyone’s guess.
Chalk it down to the game huh.
And on the home front, it’s the same as usual. Headed perilously close to where things were in 2018, or worse . . .
. . . and of course, the pictures weren’t retaken. Hehe.
GREAT news?
Is that I edited, and all is well on that front. Now it’s a matter of finishing up and getting it done, but I just had to “vent” to an extent first.
Being I’ve done that, WHY am I doing it?
Well, simple.
There are NO dearer friends or family I have than my list.
You guys listen to me chat. You guys listen to me talk. You guys are THERE for FITNESS and myself every step of the way.
You guys support me. YOU guys make it worth while!
And so, it’s only natural that whatever happens in my life gets communicated to you first.
Not to take that to extreme and giddy limits, but you get my point!
And also, to tell you that . . . things are always better in a certain way after a workout.
After the hours of annoyance today, and likely more to come later on, I’m feeling somewhat calm. Somewhat relaxed . ..
And the best damn workout I had, in RECORD time contributed to that!
And it was straight out of 0 Excuses Fitness, my friend.
Trust me, these ARE the workouts that make you feel on top of the world. If you do ‘em right!
And I sure do.
And so can you, my friend.
Go right HERE to grab the program.
OK, enough of my ramble. Back to my animal kingdom workout books!
Best,
Rahul Mookerjee
P.S. – Remember this my friend. Could always be worse. My buddy Vincent is in a place he shouldn’t be for doing the RIGHT thing. In the wrong place, for doing the right thing, and I understand how it feels. Oh yes, I do. All I can say is . . . the darkest hour is always before the dawn my brother.
Or, the following quote from Napoelon Hill.
Every adversity, every misfortune, carries with it the seed of an equivalent, if not greater BENEFIT.
And so it goes!
