The perfect "T inducing, fever banishing" - workout!
I've been writing about how I've been a bit sick - well, more than a bit - over the past few days.
And how I didnt let it stop my training - even for one day.
Maybe I went light yesterday - I did (50 pushups is super light for "Mr Ironman that routinely kills it").
(still too much for a lot of you reading this, I know!) ... but I did SOMETHING.
That thing about committment, that thing about ... ACCOUNTABILITY, if just to myself.
I long ago made a promise to myself that come rain, hell, high water or shine, I'd train everyday, if even for a second or so.
If all I could do was isometrics, I'd do it.
If all I could do due to health or some other issue was a gentle walk - I'd do it.
And so I did yesterday, 50 pushups. That was IT.
The fever and chills returned at night.
They may or may not again tonight, I dont know.
What I Do know is this I've been working all morning, yet, workouts were at the top, forefront, and back of my mind.
I gotta do some pushups, the thought kept popping into my head!
As I was laying the foundation for other big - nay, HUGE things to happen - I'll keep y'all posted when they do, I did 2 pushups.
Thats all.
But the shoulders are still sore and hurting like someone took a hammer to them.
So I thought.
I walked over to the chinning bar, thought I'd do a dead hang and thats that.
No big deal, eh.
I pumped out 5 pull-ups before I knew it!
And from that point on, it was GO - until now.
Now, 300 Hindu squats and 50 pull-ups might seem undoable to a lot of you.
And for me, it's not a lot actually to be honest.
But it's still a workout, even if you do the squats like I did in sets of 100 insead of 150 as I normally would have, and the pushups in sets of 5 evenly, instead of 3, 7, 8 and so forth.
And it's the perfect T boosting workout.
I figured I need all the T I can get to get rid of this nasty crap virus for one.
And two of the exercises that get the lungs pumping, muscles working, and T ZOOMING through your whole body - well, pull-ups and squats.
Period.
There's other great ones, of cours,e including handstand pushups, but nothing quite beats the squat/pull-up combo, and those that have done it will attest to the sheer efficacy and lung buster and feel good nature of these workouts.
Now, the exercise that REALLY gets t pumping - and everything going - and builds muscle like there's no tomorrow, fries fat off your body like nothing else out there?
I wish I could have done it today!
But I'm not qute THAT crazy - as yet. Hehe.
Time's young though!
But sprints, my friend, the way I described in Advanced Hill Training take the above effect - and AMP it up by a factor like 10 or more.
And if I had to choose ONE exercise - but you gotta do it right, and most folks don't - that really burns fat and builds muscle like there's no tomorrow, it's this one.

Why keeping it real is what its all about!
A lot of "gurus" - fitness included are guilty of not doing just that in my opinion.
A lot of so called "life gurus" or motivational so called experts as well ...
Let me ask you, the majority of these motivational speakers out there for one - how often do they focus on the NEGATIVE part of things, which to be honest makes up the majority of anyone's journey to achieving anything noteworthy?
How often do you hear "think and you'll attract" (dont get me wrong, it's true, but...) - while these people paper over the bad, often long periods of bad - in their own lives?
Maybe that is their version of marketing i.e. "saying what people want to hear".
Maybe.
To me, I'm one of the best marketers out there - in my not so humble opinion, hehe - but me aside, to me, it's about keeping it real. THAT markets better for you than any number of snazzy campaigns, ads, airy fairy tales etc could...
To me, it's about doing what David Goggins , pull-up stud - once said.
"It's about putting your entire life, no matter how fucked up it is, on a BILLBoard out there on the busiest highway out there!"
He's right.
Fitness wise, I see so many gurus - so called gurus - putting out pictures of themselves that were taken when they were doing the exact opposite of what they advocate, for one.
For instance, training with weights when they advocate bodyweight ..
Or, following super strict diets - but claiming later "diets aren't the most important thing" ...
I dont know, to me?
When I wrote Fast and Furious Ffitness in 2012, I showed myself off in the shape I was back then - certainly not the lean and mean me you see in 0 Excuses Fitness, and thats why there is a difference albeit slight in the two books, as I told you what I did then.
I still did pull-ups, handstands etc ... but the two books are different, crack them both open, you'll see what I mean.
When I wrote Eat More - Weigh Less, I had the shittiest diet ever, drank tons of beer - and still lost weight like a mo.fo on steroids - natural as ever - and I've included proof on the sales page.
When I wrote Pull-ups - from STUD to SUPER STUD - within WEEKS! - you see me doing each of the exercisesI advocate.
In my videos, my writings, everything, I've always belived the real you will shine out no matter how much you try to hide it - or not.
I never do. Hehe.
Because to me, keeping it real is what its about.
You're not always going to have the best days - or best workouts.
You're not always going to pop off 500 squats at one go, even if you have done 1000 of them at one go in the past.
You're not always going to be "feeling like doing it".
Key is lighting a fire under your arse though,and showing up daily, and doing the very best you can.
Applies to life, fitness, emails, anything you do.
Do so for a year starting today, and I'll guarantee you - that looking back, in hindsight, once the year's over - you'll see yourself getting to results you previously thought completely "ungettable".
In the trenches advice that almost no-one gives, but I'm giving it to you straight.

Why I never do "stripped to the waist" in terms of videos, pictures etc.
If you do a Google on the legendary Matt Furey (to me he's a legend, anyway, if just for his marketing and "Combat Conditioning" book, and several of his other training methods) ... you'll find a lot of criticism on him.
Mostly about how he markets - from Bozos that are jealous of his bestselling status (the book above was one of them).
And about his condition.
Matt was a weightlifter back in the day, and one of the pictures on his website shows him lean, mean, ripped and shredded to bits.
I've no idea how functionally fit he was back then, going by the picture - NOT AT ALL compared to what he is now.
A lot of folks mistake him for "soft" now.
Truth be told, the man's aged yes, but he's still kicking butt though (at least in my opinion).
And tons of people make the following comments about him.
"Ever since he stopped lifting weights, you've never seen him shirtless".
ie. they claim his bodyweight routine didnt work.
Now, I dont know about Matt - he could answer why himself.
But personally, me, I've often been asked that - back in the day especially.
The 0 Excuses Fitness videos were taken in a vest, but thats as far as I was willing to go.
Cindy did take pictures of me "Stripped to the waist", and I put them on the cover of 0 Excuses Fitness - initially.
(And one of them is still floating about on Instagram!).
But, I dont know.
It felt unnatural to me ...
It felt like I was "showing off".
I'd rather display my phat phocker status more as it MOTIVATES and INSPIRES if you are a DOER.
And - so - especially after I got the snarky "you can do what you are in China, being a porn star!" comment from the wife - and others "you're an Indian pornstar!" - I removed the picture ...
(but mostly because it felt unnatural to ME).
I dont know, I just prefer filming myself with a T shirt on, or more, or vest, but nothing less than that.
I believe your shape shows - regardless of what clothing you might try to flaunt it in - or hide it in.
Strong legs, a strong NECK, forearms, traps, all these things just SHOW regardless.
And the reverse too.
Now, interesting bit?
I've often TRAINED shirtless - in public.
But it was on the hill, either in the blazing hot afternoons "I dont see how you do it!" - or rainy, cold weather (I know, hehe) ... or when people weren't around.
Or, during the times I mentioned in 16 Inspirational FItness Recollections during those tropical thunderstorms when it would soak you to the bone one minute, next minute you'd be sweating - literally.
I'd be drippng sweat,quite literally.
"THIS is hill climbing", as Kathy, a student I was training at the time once remarked.
So I'd often do shirtless then.
In the past, I've written about a secret "core cooling" technique - even when you're in top shape (especially then) it works.
Its called lifting your shirt up to your midsection, and going like that.
Looks goofy, I know.
But it WORKS.
So I've often done that outdoors, yes.
But pictures wise, I dont know ...
I'd rather do natural.
I always will!
And I'm out.

I'm doing this for him.
The body is capable of so much more than what you think it is consciously - we only operate at like 30-35% most of the time - less if you're the average excuse of a male (like Bozo Schofied).

Mark Taylor, the great Aussie captain of yore, old school Aussie - give RESPECT, get it back in spades - REAL MAN!!! during his famous innings in Pakistan when he once surpassed Sir Don Bradman, was about to in fact - and stopped.
He respected the Don too much!

Matty Hayden "Big Matt the Bat" went on to surpass the record. But I'll always hold taylors innings in higher esteem, done away from home, against a far stronger bowling attack (none of this takes away from Big Matt the Bat though who punished India in it's own backyard in 2001, in the dustbowls, the TOUGHEST environment ever!!) ...
I stopped at 350, I was planning on doing so at 370, since it was at the age of 37 0 Excuses Fitness was created, I got into the best shape of life around 36.
But 35 was when I receieved my "second chance" at life - something I have not written about a lot, but will in upcoming emails etc, and in the book I might still put out "120 - 60 kgs - CONCEIVE - BELIEVE!- ACHIEVE!".
Whew.
John Walker keeps poppng up - kept popping up in mind when I Was doing them pushups.

41 years of age, so I had to do it!
And, this wouldn't be complete without mentioning my little girl, always there for me consciously and subconsciously, ever since the little bundle of joy was born, I still remember the tiny little bundle wriggling about in my arms, to me, that is what she will always be i.e. Daddy's little girl.
Much like John Walker, always there for me ...
Anyway.
Didnt hit the 500 ... as yet.
Maybe another time!
Or, maybe I'll crack off 90 more soon, hehe.

The great Bruce Lee once made a comment about MASTERY, my friend - and practice, daily practice, loads of it, which ties into mastery.
"I fear not the man who does 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who does ONE kick 10,000 times".
Now, what did Lee mean by this.
The answer should be obvious if you're reading between the lines i.e he was referring to "mastering a skill".
Along with that, what remains unsaid is this - ONCE you master something (although Lee would be the first to tell you never really, despite how much you might think you know about something or some skill - master anything - you keep learning your whole life!) - you cannot just sit easy and "rest on your laurels".
"Success is a fickle bird, if you pause to rest on your laurels, it flies away to go to another - plenty more waiting to take your place!"
I keep having to remind my daughter of this, whose English is admittedly far better than her peers - but she's falling behind when it comes to the REAL deal, pretty much because COMPLACENCE sometimes takes over.
We constantly get her to read new books - more advanced words - and new phrases, figures of speech etc - that she may or may not have in her current environment, but she NEEDS.
Thats how I did it - albeit on my lonesome when I was young.
And thats how she must too (in all regards).
Everyone has to.
Back to Lee - the man who is a legend bar none, and in terms of fitness, a true fitness freak - and fit like no'one's business.
A man who could ..
According to the available data, Bruce Lee could do around 1500 push ups with both hands in one go, 400 on one hand, 200 on two fingers and 100 on one thumb.
Now, thats some going, I'd say.
And if Bruce Lee was a huge, huge proponent of the Hindu pushups and fingertip pushups that I myself cannot rate highly enough - that the Great Gama of India swore by - then there must be something to them, no?
A man like Lee, I dont know about you, but I'd stop and listen - very hard - to what he says about training.
Even if you're not a martial artist, even if you dont fight for a living, even if you all you want is to get into decent shape - Bruce Lee is a role model for almost anyone given the right situation.
And pushups, my friend, along with jumping rope and some other movements in the 0 Excues Fitness System - or all, actually - formed the bedrock of Lee's system.
Take to heart what I say about MASTERY in that book; I dedicate an entire chapter to it.

PS - That little thingI keep telling ya about doing something everyday - I'd say Bruce Lee agreed, and then some!
Pushups, that GREAT equalizer - amongst MEN (real men).
If you're a real man, my friend, you do pushups.
Its that simple.
You could do them in reps, you could bang out a 100 in one set (those that can), you could do them in sets of 20 or what not - - but ...whatever it is, you do 'em, and you do them DAILY without fail.
This last bit is important.
Way too many people have one good workout, maybe two or three, then "let it go".
Wrong, big mistake - huge mistake!
If you don't do it, you LOSE it!
Anyway, the great equalizer eh.
Bodyweight exercise itself is one of them - along with the (admittedly annoying as heck) "English Wne and Beer Shops" in India, back where you're still treated as a prisoner wanting grog as opposed to a paying customer.
Money first, usually shoved through iron bars, before they literally (sometimes) throw the grog back at you.
India is a great equalizer in many regards that way...
It don't matter if you're driving a Porsche there, you still gotta maneouver that damn SUV between cows, vegetable sellers, dogs, tots, all and sundry on the roads, if you're walking, you gotta look everywhere for dog poop no matter what ...
It don't matter how high and mighty you are, once you step out, or into the liqor store - you're fair game. Not that I like that, of course, these things should have been gone from India years ago, but apparently those there don't want them to go?
"As we think, so we are" ...
But anyway, bodyweight exercise is a massive and great equalizer too.
And none more so than pushups.
When you step out in that exercise yard, when you're loosening up, when you're OPENING them shoulders, swinging them arms, everything else STOPS mattering, or should.
CAN YOU DO IT?
Or can you not.
It's that simple, BRO.
DO you got the LOOK in the eye, or not?
Its that simple...
And pushups my friend are numero uno on the great equalizer list. I'd say pull-ups, but so few people can do 'em, if at all properly.
Let me tell you one thing, even those of you that are just interested in looks and abs etc, YOU guys would be well served by getting the book on pushups and then doing pushups, EVERYDAY without fail - because if there is one exercise that really brings the abs out, it's PUSHUPS.
Sure, bridging, pull-ups, hill sprints, all do it, but nothing quite taxes them "deep burn" as pushups do.

If you have the discipline to knock off 100 good pushups daily, in one workout preferably, or more throughout the day, then you have the discipline and gumption to get to the magic 500.

YES.
Pushups are the only exercise that by virtue of their form and the floor work, make your muscles SCREAM AND BURN - and therefore grow strong, animal like strong.
There is a reason boxers and wrestlers everywhere have PUSHUPS as their mainstay exercise, period.
And, abs ... there is NO workout that works the abs better than a medly of pushups. Trust me on this one, even if you're already a super stud with 12 packs, you'll need to do pushups. Simple as that.
Not to mention all the deep breathing pushups involved. Pull-ups in high reps do too, of course, but not like pushups, not even close, because of the chest work and the heart being so close to the muscles worked, something you cannot get from any other exercise.
The great equalizer.

While looking the other person in the EYE. Chin up, SHOULDERS BACK, my brother!

Can you get down on the floor and pump 'em out - DO you got it?
It's that simple, friend.
On a parting note, nigh none of this is to say you should not do other exercises.
Of course you should.
It works best that way.
But I will say this, amigo, that if there is one exercise you had to pick, could only do ONE your whole life, it would be pushups, its as simple as that.

Why it's IMPERATIVE to get them started early - by example, at that.
Something that a lot of you have spoken about, and that I notice all the time, especially when I see videos of her and stuff - is the SHOULDERS!
Lots of you have commented upon the broad shoulders and upper back my little girl has - YES, thats a good thing even for "girls" or ladies!
Makes the waist look far slimmer for one, but beyond that - most people - such as my wife, for instance, or my mom - they put it down to "genetics".
Maybe there's a bit of that at play, I dont know.
But here's the bottom line - her genetics come from mostly me - mentally. Physically, perhaps its a medley - but my family isn't exactly one which exercises a lot, has broad shoulders etc ...
Heck, until the age of 18, or 19 - I was SKINNY, period.
I didnt even have shoulders, almost. Hehe
That ain't my fault, of course, as I was never given the environment to workout in - and more importantly I knew not a SMIDGEON of what I know today - that I learned from being in the trenches.
Most importantly though, it's "learning by example".
The only example I had of physical activity growing up was my dad collapsing in a second or so after hanging on to the pull-up bar - or, when climbing a hill, and asked to do again - "NO WAY!".
Or, the pink dumbells we had lying around at home that were suppose to build "size".
And fitness!
"Thats how you get ripped", I was told.
It ain't either, my friend but you know this, of course.
There was never anyone around to teach me how to do pushups - pullups - or even lift weights - that was "for those nasty BIG people" as my Mom kept saying.
True, the mind the most important muscle of the body to train, but you only train the mind fully if you have a physically FIT body functioning at optimal levels in all regards.
Anyway, enough about me.
My daughter's secret to those shoulders?
Handstands - and handstand pushups.
"Dad, I couldn't even do them", she often says. "But from a young age I saw YOU doing them, and then I started!"
THERE!
That is the key my friend.
Little kids are like monkeys.
Monkey see, monkey do.
They see you sitting on your arse all day, guess what they will do.
They see you on the dumbphone all day, guess what they will do (no, all the explaining in the world that "this is for work, I earn money from it" wont help either).
You teach by example, period.
As simple as it gets.
That is the reason for videos and such anyway - come to think of it.
My daughter has an example from a young age, unlike yours truly who started at 25 for the most part. That don't mean you can't start late - but it DOES mean those who start EARLY always have an advantage.
Remember, the early bird gets the worm.
Anyway ...
Handstands - or handstand pushups - or both - are the secret key not just to building Brahma Bull like Shoulders like BOULDERS!
They're also the KEY to a ripped core - midsection - and so forth.
And fat loss bar none.
Even if all you do all day is hold a handstand for 10 seconds with the right breathing ... whooops!
I forgot.
Most people can barely get into a handstand of any nature, let alone hold.
My current best is 60 seconds at one time, though I'll do more if I have to.
I mix in some pushups with it too ...

You do what you can with your bandaged hands - or busted chin (which as I told you, happened to me once when an idiotic pink dog showed up woofing anyway) - or thumb poppingin and out.
You just keep going, period.
You dont stop.
Like my friend from the Marines once told me.
(about the Paras in India toughening their recruits up by sticking their heads in rotten animal carcasses for one)
(and drinking crushed glass during grad time- yes, that happens in reality too! (its like sand once you get it right, but just the thought will make a man out of you!))
"They do all that so they can keep going even if they lose an eye or whatever it is".
And he is right. Spot on.
You BULLDOZE through obstacles, or you make your way around them, you make them disappear.
You just do it, you just KEEP doing it!
And there it stands, my friend.
In life, fitness, anything - THAT is the spirit required.
Far too few people have it these days.
And the workouts in this book, the SPIRIT in which I wrote it, it will bring you that indomitable WILL and GUMPTION to keep going, keep going, no matter what, and ultimately GET to where you WANT to be.
And that, my friend is really all that is needed. (and what it is all about, truly about).
NEVER GIVE UP - on any goal - fitness or anything, for if you persist, you shall GET. It's as simple as that.

Mountain climbing at HOME, and more . . .
Some of you will guess what this email is about, especially you Corrugated Core fans - where I cover the mountain climber in great detail.
Thats another course I need to put a video out for, by the way!
But for the rest of you, it ain't climbing actual mountains at home I'm referring to.
You COULD climb stairs repeatedly, especially if you live in a skyscraper or 20 plus storey building, and get a great workout in while you're at it.
But, the mountain climber I'm referring to doesn't require you to climb anything - or anywhere - except perhap get rid of the mountain of FAT a lot of people have on their belly and core!
It's easy enough to do in theory - in THEORY being the operative word here!
Basically, you get in a plank position, then bring one leg up beneath your chest, then retract - then go with the other leg.
You go as quick as you can, for me, that means two "ups" per second or faster.
And you go for at least ... well, as long as you can go, but most people, even seasoned fitness fanatics will be out of breath and ready for a rest post a minute or so continously of this (much like with the bear crawl in Animal Kingdom Workouts - another great, great fat torching and core movement).
But back to the mountain climber - clients of mine have used this ONE exercise - in conjunction with some exercises in Corrugated Core - and leaned out amazingly fast, my friend.
Think "six pack" within a month - from "flab - o - central" 30 days ago.
This exercise, quite literally works the cardio system BIG TIME.
It's variants can be classifed as advanced plyometrics - and that will be there in the book (advanced plyometrics).
Not only this, if you're having trouble doing pushups etc, well, this position will get you ready for the plank and/or pushups since you're IN the same position anyway while doing 'em - except it's more of a core / fat burning movement you're doing.
There have been people that have reported dropped > 10 kg within a couple of WEEKS of doing this exercise - and nothing more - and no actual climbing.
Just imagine how much more they'd shed if they combined it with walking, climbing actual hills outdoors, pull-ups, etc ...
Why do I bring this up - well, just another way YOU can shed fat this winter, my friend - while you're all covered up in clothes.
You might think SUMMER is really when you need to show off the abs, but truth is, unless you prepare for that in winter, you'll never have 'em to show off (if that is your thing) during the summer.
At least that is my take on it, contrarian as ever!
In Corrugated Core, virtually ALL the exercises I give you can be a workout unto themselves.
And you can weave a very creative workout indeed with a lot of those exercises - which daily won't take more than 10-12 minutes tops if you do it right.
You could also go multiple times if you so choose per day, and not tire yourself out with meaningless, mind less pavement pounding ...
Corrugated Core, my friend, is truly a book for the ages.
Truly a book to build functional abs, HARDCORE ab training as one of the reviewers said, as opposed to fancy shmancy beach boy look.
(much like with all my other books).
